At the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC), we are thrilled to share that we have been recognized as the only private university in Honduras to rank among the top 50 universities in the Mexico and Central America region, according to the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Ranking. This distinction places us prominently among the leading private universities in Central America.
Across all universities in Honduras, both public and private, we proudly hold the top score for Employer Reputation. This reflects the high demand for our graduates in the job market and the distinctive qualities they bring—namely, a global perspective and innovative mindset that align seamlessly with international trends and evolving labor market needs.
These achievements underscore our institution’s educational quality and elevate our country´s standing on the international stage, showcasing that Honduras offers world-class higher education. Such recognition promotes academic growth, attracts talent and investment, and strengthens the image of Honduras as a regional educational leader, advancing our national progress and competitiveness.
Our Executive President and Rector, Rosalpina Rodríguez, expressed her pride, noting, “We have achieved a ranking within the 251-300 range in the QS Latin America and Caribbean 2025 Ranking, reaffirming our position among the top universities in the region. This advancement in the rankings is a testament not only to our ongoing efforts to enhance education and infrastructure but also to the tangible impact of our research. The confidence that students, faculty, and the business community place in us reinforces our reputation as an institution dedicated to innovation and social development.”
In recognition of this achievement, UNITEC took part in the QS Higher Education Summit 2024 in Mexico, an event that brought together university and academic leaders from the Americas and beyond. At the summit, Javier Salgado, UNITEC’s Academic Vice-Rector, participated in a panel titled “Driving a Green Renaissance in Higher Education”, where he discussed how universities are preparing students to tackle environmental challenges.
Organized by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), an independent organization supporting global higher education, the QS Summit offered valuable insights into the academic sector. QS is globally known for its QS World University Rankings, which assess universities based on academic quality, research contributions, employer reputation, international networks, web presence, and other criteria.
Through this recognition and these meaningful experiences, we renew our commitment to academic excellence and global engagement, strengthening collaboration and learning within an international framework.
